186. Rural Scene In Watercolour

Our recent trip to Gippsland for Christmas meant that I was all full of new inspiration for rural-themed art! I love that part of the world, I miss it so much when I'm stuck here in the suburbs.

This picture was drawn from the imagination using Derwent watercolour pencils, then I used a stiff, thin paintbrush to apply water and blend the pencil together.

At this time of year it's summer, so the trees are all green, but I picked a more wintry look for this painting. Actually, now that I think about it, many Australian native trees are green all year round anyway.

This is shaping up as one hot summer. Today's forecast is for 41 degrees Celsius (approximately 105.8 degrees Fahrenheit), hot and sunny. So, I'm in a suburban house, no air conditioning, not impressed. I don't think I've ever been a hot weather person (except when I'm at the beach!).

Just a reminder that you can also visit me at my blog "fizzy musings," located at http://fikalo.wordpress.com. For some reason it seems to encourage people to write irritated, assertive comments. I can assure you that wasn't my intention!!
