We were driving past some houses still elaborately lit by masses of Christmas decorations. My husband was driving, so I was busy snapping photographs. Due to the length of time it took for the camera to take the photo, we'd moved a fair bit from the shutter opening to closing again, giving it this squiggly effect.

I recently spent an evening drawing sketches inspired by photos of Australian native animals. I love our native fauna, but I guess it has taken me a while to appreciate just how unique our nation's creatures are. This was another experiment with dry pastels, though I must have warped the perspective or something, because when my husband looked at it he said, 'it looks like a kangaroo!' This was for a laugh. Bunyips are usually portrayed as fierce creatures, but I wanted to try the bunyip (an Australian creature, most probably mythical but perhaps based on real creatures) as a typical "Aussie bloke:" floating on his pool couch in a secluded billabong, drink in hand, beer gut protruding from his shrunken bathers. This was one of a number of experimental self portraits that I photographed last week. I thought the results were quite interesting.
